White Spinel Brooch

Silver, 1959

Height: 60mm

Brooch designed in the form of a stylised bow. A submission piece as part of the City & Guilds of London Institute Examination in Diamond Mounting 1958; awarded First Prize Bronze Medal.

The brooch, designed around the theme of a tied bow, was produced to demonstrate specific diamond-mounting techniques, with special attention being given to the cut relief detailing on the back of the settings.

These features allowed the maximm amount of light to penetrate and reflect through the settings, increasing the brilliance of the closely mounted stones.
